Nokia’s Ovi Store To Offer Video Content
More details are emerging on the sort of content that Nokia’s upcoming Ovi Store will be carrying. In an interview with Reuters, Nokia’s head of entertainment business Tero Ojanpera says the store will include video content, although it is not planning on a more full-featured video service. “Movies will be part of the offering but this kind of a full fledged video store, that is not in our roadmap,” said Ojanpera. Last week, its competitor Samsung debuted a full-length movie download store in Europe to allow customers with specific handsets to buy or rent movies and TV shows for their mobile phones.

The rest of Reuters interview with Ojanpera focusing on the Ovi Store, slated to debut in May, has been said before. To recap:
—Ovi users will be able to buy some mobile games from Nokia’s N-Gage gaming service, but the handset maker plans to keep N-Gage running as a separate sales channel. The Ovi Store will offer more casual games, with N-Gage reserved for hardcore games.
—Ovi Store customers will be able to pay through their mobile operator bill in nine countries, including the US, the UK, Singapore and Spain. Though Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is offering the same revenue split as Apple (NSDQ: AAPL), 70/30, developers, will see that 70 percent shrink when consumers opt to pay through their carriers, as the carriers will take a further cut.
