Nokia, DD To Trial Mobile TV In India

Indian public broadcaster Prasar Bharti (also known as DD for Doordarshan) has teamed with Nokia to start a DVB-H trial in various metropolitan areas to test the reception quality of the broadcast coverage, reports Financial Express. DD channels will be available on some of Nokia’s N92 series handsets. If this trial goes will the partners will look at revenue structurue, advertising opportunities and so on. Vineet Taneja, multimedia business director of Nokia India, is quoted as saying that an extensive commercial launch will take some time, and it is up to Doordarshan to set a timetable for the launch.
