NHL Game Alerts On Verizon For $2.99 A Month

Verizon Wireless has teamed up with the National Hockey League (NHL) to launch NHL game video alerts—15 second video of game highlights sent after each period, with people receiving a maximum of four video alerts in one night. The alerts cost $2.99 per month per team (which seems like a reasonable amount), but the deal is described as an “exclusive”...exactly how long this exclusivity will last is unclear, but there’s no clear benefit for the NHL in restricting the service to one carrier. Of course, if it’s exclusive because Verizon (NYSE: VZ) developed the service that’s a different matter… (release)
