ngmoco’s First Acquisition: ‘Epic Pet Wars’ Developer Miraphonic

iPhone gaming company ngmoco has acquired Miraphonic, developer of the popular social-mobile MMO Epic Pet Wars. Players create and train their pets, then battle each other over the iPhone, Facebook, as well as the Epic Pet Wars site. ngmoco CEO Neil Young tweeted the news; financials weren’t disclosed (via pocketgamer.biz)

Its ngmoco’s first acquisition, but the companies had already been working together for a bit, per VentureBeat. ngmoco will start incorporating Miraphonic’s model of offering the game for free, then making money from in-game currency, into future titles. The company is backed by $15 million from Norwest Venture Partners, Maples Investments and the KPC&B iFund. We’ve pinged them for details about Miraphonic’s founder.
