Nokia: Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has launched 3 handsets at MWC. The E75 and E55 have qwerty keyboards and an enhanced e-mail user interface which includes folder and HTML email support, expandable views and sorting capability by date, sender and size. The handsets also have improved calendar, contacts and task management, and Nokia’s main content pushes: Nokia Maps and N-Gage. The E75 also has Ovi Files, which lets important files be stored on a PC and remotely managed and shared. Nokia has also released the Nokia 6710 Navigator, which is of course a dedicated GPS device. It includes the latest Mpas software with real time ‘drive and walk’ navigation, full regional maps and hardware elements like the dedicated navigator key, touch area for easy zooming and a large display optimized for outdoor viewing. The recent integration of Maps with Ovi allows people to pre-plan their journey at home on their PC and synchronize with their mobile device. Maps has also been updated with new features such as high-resolution aerial images, 3D landmarks for over 200 cities, terrain maps, weather service, premium travel and traffic and safety warnings. It also has a compass…

Quantum: Quantum has launched an ultra-low cost GSM-WiMax handset, which is capable of voice calls, VoIP calls and high-speed data connection up to 10Mbps on 2.3GHz or 2.5GHz WiMax spectrum. Quantum plans to target the market for people who want a low-cost handset to use on WiMax networks…with the expectation that they’ll reach a lot more people pretty soon. (release)

LG: LG’s main launch was its flagship handset, the Arena (LG-KM900), which “offers an exhilarating audio and video experience made possible by LG’s intuitive new 3D S-Class User Interface”...it’s the first handset to get this treatment. It has the Dolby Surround Sound system, a touch screen, ability to record DVD-quality video, 40GB of storage and Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Mobile Services. It will be available in Europe in March. Other LG (SEO: 066570) releases include a transparent phone, the LG-GM730 which will have the S-Class UI in a Windows Handset and available a bit later than the Arena, a Touch Watch Phone, a solar-powered handset, and will demo an LTE datacard.

Samsung: Samsung also released a solar-powered handset, seeing LG and raising it with a cover made from recycled plastic water bottles and the capability of measuring your carbon footprint…it’s called Blue Earth, notes Times Online. ZTE also announced plans to launch a solar-powered phone aimed at people in developing countries who aren’t connected to a power grid.
