imageBut that we knew…Forbes does a good roundup of Disney’s (NYSE: DIS) extensive mobile efforts, focusing on content and applications, after its disastrous forays in MVNO land. Imagine all of what it could have done in the content space with the hundreds of millions it spent on ESPN and Disney kids MVNO…well, now you can see the scope.

In September the company is planning to roll out a mobile storefront for all thing Disney, a mobile IM chat system and virtual world widgets, focusing, among other things, on Tinker Bell. It will also allow users to access their Disney.com profiles on their phone. A mobile game connected to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean Online virtual world is planned for September or October.

On mobile IM: Disney will also port its “Speed Chat” messaging system, the story says, which is a feature on Disney.com, to phones. Users will be able to send instant messages from mobile to mobile, as well as mobile to PC.
