Mobile content aggregator mSpot announced that ABC Radio Networks will be broadcasting 14 of its stations on its service including stations from New York, Washington and Los Angeles. ABC Radio Networks, bought by Citadel Broadcasting Corporation from Disney in June for some $1.35bn, is the largest radio company in the U.S. with 177 FM stations and 66 AM stations.

It remains to be seen if broadcasting over mobile will prove to be a strong revenue stream for radio stations. Affiliates on mSpot’s network—which offers audio and video services via Sprint, Telus, U.S. Cellular and Bell Canada—get a portion of revenues from each subscriber, and share in revenue on advertising that runs over the service. Other radio companies that offer their stations via mSpot include Clear Channel, CBS Radio and National Public Radio. In all mSpot says it has some 100 radio channels available to its 1 million subscribers.
