Mozilla Mobile Browser Not Coming Until 2010
Mozilla beat Google (NSDQ: GOOG) to the browser market by a few years, but it may not be ready for mobile until 2010, Mozilla Foundation Chairman Mitchell Baker wrote on a blog. Baker explained that the company’s mobile plan includes “an effective product in the mobile market” that “demonstrates that mobile is part of one, unified, open web.” Rumors have surfaced for at least 12 months about a pending release of a Mozilla mobile browser, but this suggests the company may be waiting for the wireless industry to catch up with the online space in terms of speed, user interface and capable devices to release a browser that acts and performs similarly to Firefox on a PC or Mac.
