Motorola Lays Off 74 More Handset Employees

Motorola (NYSE: MOT) is still finding places to cut back, even though it is in the middle of a major turnaround. The handset maker will layoff 74 more workers from its mobile-phone division at its Libertyville, Ill.-based offices, reports IDG News Service. The employees will have until the end of the month, according to a filing with the state.

The announcement follows layoffs of 3,000 people in the mobile group earlier this year. Of those, about 500 came from the same Libertyville offices.

Motorola has pinned its recovery on Google’s Android operating system, but it has yet to unveil any of the handsets. Some pictures have surfaced on the internet, depicting what the phones may look like, but Motorola has kept plans very hush-hush. The company is expected to release multiple Android phones during the fourth quarter, and already there’s signs of the company working closely with application developers.

This all goes to show that Paul Liska was right when he said forecasts were full of crapola.  Paul was right.  Greg Brown is wrong and should be run out of town on a rail.

Layoffs happen at Motorola on a weekly basis… show me a week where Motorola >>doesn't<< lay people off—now THAT would be real news.  Stick a fork in it, this pig is done…the meat is falling off the bones
