More Details On The Android Phone Emerge

More details on the first Android phone are leaking out now that the phone is nearly here. The HTC-manufactured device, using the Google (NSDQ: GOOG) operating system, will be unveiled next Tuesday by T-Mobile USA at an event in New York City. The Wall Street Journal (via Reuters) is reporting that the phone will cost $199, matching the price of the iPhone 3G, and that T-Mobile will release new data plans that are being described as “aggressively priced.” Up until now, the fourth-largest carrier has mostly differentiated itself based on offering big buckets of minutes at a low cost, and by offering additional services such as unlimited calling for phones that use voice-over-Wi-Fi. It will be interesting to see how it handles leading the charge on bringing a brand new device and operating system to market.
