In its presentation at the NAB in Las Vegas Modeo said participants in its mobile TV trial gave positive feedback to the service, RCRWireless reports. Modeo, which recently concluded its six-week trial of mobile TV services in New York City, said the 138 participants (a mix of male and female professionals, students, parents and single adults) gave the service high marks. Average use was around 23 minutes per session in the first few days of service, but eventually settled at around an average 15 minutes per day.

Modeo president Michael Ramke added that each of the live TV channels - CNBC, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, Fox Sports, Discovery Channel and E— scored higher than 70 percent in overall satisfaction. One channel even scored 85 percent satisfaction. Predictably, most users watched mobile TV on the fly, while commuting, waiting for appointments and during lunch. Most users viewed the service from Monday to Thursday; viewing dropped on Fridays and continued to decline through the weekend. Mobile TV didn’t have the feared negative on viewing habits. Over half (52 percent) said they watched more TV at home after watching the Modeo service.

Future upgrades to the service will let users interact with the content via their mobile phones. In addition to click to vote and buy options, users will be able to create preference profiles, providing the service with the information it needs to record additional clips likely to match the individual user’s taste in programming.
