MobiTV Raises $5 Million
Streaming TV provider MobiTV has received $5 million in funding from Leader Ventures, in addition to the $125 million it raised from VC firms Gefinor Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Redpoint Venutres, Oak Investment Partners and strategic investors Adobe Systems (NSDQ: ADBE) and Hearst Corp, reports VentureBeat. MobiTV plans to use the money to pay for “equipment costs.” MobiTV rolled out its first mobile TV service in 2003 and now has over 4 million subscribers through its white label deals with carriers.
