Revenue from sales of mobile video phones will double from 2006 to 2010 according to a report from Infonetics. The report states that mobile video phone sales were $58 billion worldwide in 2006, and expected to be $125 billion by 2010. Infonetics goes on to predict that the number of mobile video subscribers will jump from a few million in 2006 to 58.6 million in 2010—back in May it was predicting 46 million by 2010, so it’s a bit more optimistic about the industry. In 2006 EMEA was the leading region for mobile video service revenue and accounted for 42 percent of the worldwide total; Asia Pacific accounts for 35 percent, North America for 16 percent, and CALA for 7 percent. In terms of subscribers in 2006 Asia Pacific had 53 percent of the world total, followed by EMEA at 27 percent, North America at 13 percent, and CALA at 6 percent. Infonetics predicts that there will be 11.7 million DVB-H subscribers by 2010, and 6 million FLO subscribers.
