NBC Universal has signed a deal to put the channel NBC Sports Mobile on the MobiTV service. The service will launch with live coverage of the 2007 US Open Golf tee-off with Tiger Woods. The channel will also offer coverage and highlights to mobile subscribers from Wimbledon and the NFL, amongst others. NBC Sports also plans stuff around the Beijing Olympics. During a presentation to analysts today, Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Sports, revealed some more details about the Beijing Olympics including the first-ever wireless coverage with streams of highlights—and access to live streaming of 24 sports. NBC plans live online streaming of 24 sports—1,200-plus hours in all. NBC will offer “full rewind of key events” and daily highlights of every sport. (AT&T Wireless—the pre-Cingular version—carried highlights of the 2004 Olympics but only on the Nokia 6620 with Edge and very limited; that’s how I wound up buying one.)  More about the analysts’ session on our sister site paidContent.org.

Portuguese broadcaster TVI has signed a deal with Vodafone to put a 24-hour TVI channel on the Vodafone Mobile TV service. The channel will broadcast live most of the TVI programs…soaps, news bulletins, as well as shows such as Morangos com Açúcar, Ilha dos Amores, Doce Fugitiva, Tu e Eu, and Tardes de Júlia. (release)
