Phone advertising network Apptera has raised $9 million in funding…the round was led by Alloy Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Walden International. The company is positioning itself as a mobile advertising player, in this case they insert ads in between calls…their mobile advertising network inserts what they have deemed “in-call” while an individual is interacting with a business over the phone.
A profile of the company, here on RedHerring: “The San Bruno, California-based company has introduced MobileAd Technology, an advertising marketplace that inserts ads in phone calls through a Google-style bid system. The company plans to fill those long and short pauses in commercial phone calls, as the caller is shuttled between departments, with targeted ads.”
