The mobile dating industry must be feeling pretty loved up by now… a report out today from Juniper Research predicts that the sector will reach $1 billion in revenues by 2012 as some of the more popular online sites like Match.com expand their cellular offerings. The countries with the most use now are Japan and India, but the latter will see some of the biggest growth, reaching some 60 million users by 2012. Juniper says that these services will complement rather than replace the online market, but as with many of the digital content services, the likely winners will be those who can get some scale out of these services: currently there are some 40 million users of the service; in 2012 there will be 260 million users. But doing the math, that means that an average user will only generate around $3.85 of income. release
