Tira Wireless, the Toronto-based mobile content porting company, has closed down, we have learned…we have been trying to contact the company for a week now, but no one has been responding to e-mails or phone calls, including senior management of the company. Some other reports on its shutting down are also surfacing as well. According to MobileGamesBlog, after the closure in August, a group of Tira employees have formed a new company called Five Mobile.

The company had raised about $31.5 million in funding in four rounds, and had investors such as Lehman Brothers Venture Partners, Brightspark Ventures, Flagship Ventures and Export Development Canada.

We have been chasing a few more such tips about mobile content services companies closing down or close to making a decision, so expect a lot more shakeout as the industry morphs.
