Mobile Content Bits: YouMail Voicemail; Zumobi New Release; Zed Brew Downloads; Rocawear And Boost

YouMail visual voicemail to launch in beta:  Irvine, Calif.-based YouMail said today it is launching its free public beta of its visual voicemail for smartphones. The term became popular after the launch of the iPhone, but YouMail says the service allows users to listen to voicemail messages, forward messages to other people, or reply via SMS from the phone’s WAP browser, and without having to dial into their voicemail service. To use, you must first create an account online, and then login on your phone at http://youmail.com. In addition to the basic features, the service also lets you view the caller’s photo, name, city and state. The service works on smartphones, including the Blackberry, the Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Treo, the iPhone, and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) devices.

Zumobi releases new features on Windows Mobile: Seattle-based Zumobi said it released its latest version for Windows Mobile today that provides a few new features. One of them is called a Tile Wizard, which allows users create their own Zumobi mobile widgets. Users can choose the tile’s look, stream data from an RSS feed and turn personal blogs and favorite Web content into a tile. Another feature is the Tile Gallery, which let’s users select and upload widgets directly from their mobile handset. One of its newest tiles is the game called “Willy the Hillbilly,” which was developed by Tribal DDB for Mountain Dew.

Zed announces over 76 million downloads: Zed, a mobile entertainment company, said today that U.S. consumers have downloaded more than 76 million pieces of content from them through the Brew platform since 2001. Zed, formerly 9 Squared in the U.S., also announced that it reached several milestones last year, including the launch of three BREW applications; U.S. Cellular’s Tone Room, Univision Tonos and Voicemail MAX and has grown its RealTone JukeBox offering.

Rocawear to launch ad campaign on Boost Mobile: Rocawear, the apparel company created by rapper Jay-Z, is launching a mobile advertising campaign targeting Boost Mobile’s 4.4 million users this month, reports BrandWeek. Amobee Media Systems is handling mobile component for the brand’s “Be heard, be seen, be felt” campaign. Boost customers will be offered a special promotional code that can be redeemed at Rocawear.com for a 10 percent discount.
