Mobile Content Bits: Racing Post App; BBC Mobile; Sony Ericsson Satio Sales Resume

Racing Post: The racing bible has launched a free iPhone app with racing form, tips, video and news and it’s clocked up 2,500 downloads since going live on the App Store last week. The the company claims that currently makes it the fourth most popular free sports app in the UK.

BBC mobile site: The Beeb is giving its m.bbc.co.uk site a slight revamp: there’s now what the BBC calls a “carousel” of scroll-through screens promoting BBC content at the top of the mobile browser, which can be personalised to show more relevant material. The mobile development team, led by Ulyssa MacMillan, are working on improved navigation and personalisation. From the BBC Internet Blog.

Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson’s Satio: Sony Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) has resumed sales of its high-end Satio smartphone after it was pulled from the shelves by British retailers two weeks ago after consumers complained of several problems, including the device freezing, the ringtone volume fluctuating and problems with phone numbers syncing with the address book. Engadget reports there’s also now a software update available for current Satio owners, which should improve “handset speeds and battery usage” and “fixes previous software issues.”
