Duke University Unveils Mobile Sticky Notes: Duke announced today that it has been working on a location-based social networking application, which they call “virtual sticky notes.” The software lets people obtain information about locations from other mobile phone users around the world. If you want to know what traffic is like, you should be able to tap into the sensors of people’s phone while they are driving. The concept is also called a micro-blog, which is a similar concept to Wikipedia, where people upload their own content from their phones. For instance, you can pull down information about a restaurant, or about art in a museum. Currently, there’s a working prototype for the Nokia N95 mobile phone, but the application will be ported to other phones.
