Michelin Guides Go Mobile: If cloth napkins, sommeliers and an array of silverware is your kind of thing, Michelen guides might already be on your shelf in paper form. Now the cuisine guides are optimized for mobile on a .mobi site that includes the latest reviews of restaurants in New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles, AFP reports. The century-old publications out of Paris are planning to expand the mobile offerings to other cities and allow users to post messages about their dining experiences. Michelin guide sells about 1.2 million copies of its guides each year in 97 countries.
Citibank Launches Mobile Payment Pilot: Citibank has started a new pilot program to test a new mobile person-to-person money transfer service with Obopay. The companies say this is the first time a real-time, person-to-person mobile money transfer has been setup with the ability to link directly to a bank account in the U.S. Using a mobile browser, SMS or an application, Citibank customers can send and receive money directly through mobile phone numbers.
Ford Promoting Newest Designs On Mobile: The Ford Motor Company has inked a deal with Quattro Wireless to promote the 2009 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKS on mobile. The new mobile sites feature the most innovative aspects of the vehicles along with photo galleries, videos, wallpapers, ringtones, a dealer locator and alerts sign-up. Quattro also has deals with Jaguar, Land Rover, General Motors and Toyota for similar deals. Release.
Apartments.com Optimized For Mobile: Apartments.com has developed a WAP site to optimize its popular apartments-listing service for mobile phones. The main site also has a new Send2Phone feature that allows users to send information about an apartment listing to their phone. Release.
Buongiorno (BIT: BNG) Tapped To Manage Orange WAP Portals In Africa: Orange has re-upped its agreement with Buongiorno to have the company manage, market and develop the carriers WAP portals in African countries where the carrier has service by year’s end. Buongiorno will also populate the mobile sites with applications and content suited to Orange’s customers in the region. Orange World, the name of the carrier’s African WAP portal, will include local music, news, sport and graphics. Release (PDF in Italian).
HBO Taking Shows Mobile: HBO’s hit shows like Entourage, Sex and the City and The Sopranos are getting the mobile treatment through a new deal with Mobile Streams that will place content from the shows on off-portal distribution channels globally, excluding the U.S. and Canada. Wallpapers and ringtones from the shows’ theme songs will also be made available for purchase on a variety of carriers. Release.
Stickam Mobile: Los Angeles-based Stickam.com has launched a released a mobile application for its live video streaming service for Nokia (NYSE: NOK) S60 series devices and plans to develop an iPhone version soon. The new application allows user to broadcast live from their mobile phone.
