O2 launches global media sales unit: UK operator O2 has launched a global media sales division, O2 Media Group, to provide advertisers the ability to place integrated campaigns across mobile, email, online, in-store, direct and experiential channels, reports NMA.co.uk. Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) is said to be considering rolling out a similar product. O2 Media Group sales director said the operator’s aim with the new unit was to “be one of Europe’s leading media channels,” and to “engage with our 18 million customers, with mobile as the glue.” He added, “We have a massive installed base and we need to find ways to get brands to engage with the channel.” The new group is being headed up my Laura Scarlett, formerly md of marketing firm Dunnhumby. Vodafone is said to be considering a similar offering.

Nakko supplying Telfort with mobile portal: Mobile content company Nakko has won the contract from Telfort to build and manage a new mobile portal for the Dutch operator. The WAP portal gives users one place to see the latest news, weather and traffic information, as well as other content specifically tailored for the operator’s users. For example, they will soon be able to see news from Hollan’s social net Hyves, or the headers of their Gmail account. Nakko plans to add more services in the future (release).
