—Thumbplay goes on deck with Cellular South: Cellular South is now featuring Thumbplay’s mobile entertainment portal on the deck of many of its phones, marking one of the first times a U.S. wireless carrier has used a off deck content portal for its storefront. The store will offer 100,000 digital pieces of music, videos and games either on a standalone basis or by subscription. Release.
—DeviceAnywhere goes back to college: DeviceAnywhere is working with OnDeego to let students at the University of California, Berkeley test mobile applications they are building for their Mobile Applications and Entrepreneurship class. The students will receive five free hours on DeviceAnywhere to test their final project, which requires that they develop a mobile application on a variety of mobile devices. The class is taught by OnDeego’s CEO Ken Singer. Release.
—Tickets.com launches mobile site: Tickets.com is launching ProVenueMobile, a mobile version of their consumer site. The site, which was developed by Usablenet, will let people buy a ticket on their phone, without having to make a phone call. The mobile site is available at http://mobile.tickets.com/. Tickets that are bought by the users can also be received digitally on the phone.
—Mobile Streams (SEA: MOS) Partners with ohm:tv: Mobile Streams and ohm:tv are teaming up to provide mobile content to European carriers. Mobile Streams will be supplying the video, ringtones and wallpapers that will then be distributed to ohm:tv’s network operator partners in Belgium, France, Germany, UK, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Slovenia and Austria providing Mobile Streams with an expanded reach into Europe.
