Might U.K. iPhone Sales Disappoint?
Interest in iPhone is high, but will that translate into stellar sales when the device hits the market? Not likely, according to El Reg. Quoting the U.K.‘s largest iPhone survey (undertaken by iPhone blog) the article points out “even Apple die-hards won’t invest in the handset unless it is competitively priced and available on their network.” In total 72 percent of the 487 respondents (74 percent of which already own Apple hardware) are thinking about purchasing an iPhone. However, only 7.6 percent said they would buy one for sure. A number of factors account for the disconnect – among them the high price of iPhones and a reluctance among respondents to switch networks or break contracts. And the shocker: Only 28 percent of respondents said they were likely to buy another iPod after the iPhone launched in the U.K. (Details of the survey here.)
