Microsoft Buying Portugal’s MobiComp For Mobile Data Backup And Storage

imageMicrosoft (NSDQ: MSFT) continues its push into the mobile space… the software giant will acquire Mobicomp, a Portugal-based mobile software company specializing in storage and restoration of mobile data. The company also services for posting content to social networks. MobiComp’s three main products are MobileKeeper Backup & Restore, MobileKeeper Sharing & Communities, and Active mTicker. Microsoft’s Portugal chief declined to offer any financial details, according to Reuters, though he said it represents the company’s biggest investment in Portugal.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Release.

MobiComp customers are primarily mobile operators, including Vodafone (NYSE: VOD), TMN (Portugal) and several others across the Middle East and Europe. The operators can then deploy the MobiComp platform for consumer-facing mobile apps.
