mCarbon Closes First Round; NetSol Buys ID; ARM Buys Logipard

mCarbon: Indian company mCarbon has received an undisclosed amount in first-round funding from Canaan Partners. The company has a product that helps manage value added mobile services which it sells to carriers—it counts Airtel, Idea Cellular and MTNL amongst its customers reports Reuters. “Most of the proceeds will go to building operational infrastructure of the company,” said Razdan. The company plans to increase channels to sell its products to operators and OEM partners. The funds raised should be enough for the firms expansion plans for next two to two and a half years.”

NetSol Technologies Europe: NetSol Technologies Europe has signed a letter of intent to buy a majority share in ID Interactive—the terms of the deal weren’t disclosed but will include a modest upfront cash component and the rest calculated through a performance based, multi-year earn out formula related to annual revenue and earnings growth. ID has a mobile platform that can deliver interactive games, services, and custom content to millions of mobile phone users globally. (release)

ARM: ARM has acquired Swedish video IP company Logipard. Logipard provides video technology to LG Electronics (SEO: 066570) and two mobile handset OEMs, and has been shipped in more than 30 million mobile phones to date. The acquisition enables ARM to bring to market the ARM Mali-VE multi standard video engine family of products. (release)
