Klausner Technologies Sues Apple, AT&T, Cable Operators Over Visual Voicemail Patents

[By Blake Robinson] Klausner Technologies today filed a lawsuit for $360 million against AT&T (NYSE: T) and Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) for allegedly infringing on two patents pertaining to visual voicemail, a key feature of the iPhone. According to AppleInsider, the patents are here and here; they date back to 1992 and 1994.

But Klausner isn’t just going after AT&T and Apple. It also filed today against Comcast, (NSDQ: CMCSA) Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) and Ebay’s Skype for $300 million, claiming that Cablevision’s Optimum Voicemail, Comcast’s Digital Voicemail and Skype’s Voicemail all violate Klausner’s patents allowing users to view voicemail as an inbox. (via Engadget.)

Klausner has in the past defended successfully its patents against AOL (NYSE: TWX) and Vonage. Given its previous victories one might be inclined to bet on Klausner, but considering the vast financial power of the many companies that it’s suing, I doubt they’ll go down without a fight.
