Jitterbug, which sells easy-to-use phones aimed at senior citizens, has acquired MobiWatch, an early stage company that has yet to launch a keychain-like device that connects to a cell phone and allows a user to call for help. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Release.

GreatCall, the parent of Jitterbug, said they will continue to develop MobiWatch’s offering and expects to launch it late next year. The service will be available via a Jitterbug phone and users will be able to reach both Jitterbug’s customer service representatives, as well as a call center of licensed paramedics and personal response agents. GreatCall raised at least $74.6 million in venture, including a round in July 2008.
