imageHere’s some fresh evidence that proves Apple’s iPhone has hit mainstream. The device outsold the Motorola (NYSE: MOT) RAZR for the first time in the last quarter, according to The NPD Group. The RAZR had been the top-selling cellphone for the past year. The strong iPhone sales weren’t enough to lift up the industry overall, however. Domestic handset sales declined 15 percent from a year ago to 32 million units and cellphone sales’ revenue fell 10 percent to $2.9 billion even while the average cost of phone rose 6 percent to $88. Release.

Top phones in Q3 are 1. Apple iPhone 3G 2. Motorola RAZR (all models) 3. Research In Motion BlackBerry Curve (all models) 4. LG Rumor 5. LG evV2
