iPhone Is Coming Early On Friday; App Store Could Come Even Earlier

It’s all systems go for AT&T (NYSE: T) this Friday as it plans to launch Apple’s iPhone 3G and says it will open all its stores at 8 a.m. to handle the extra traffic and demand. One of the more interesting aspects of the launch is the App store, which may come even earlier now to let users of the original iPhone and iPod Touch buy games and gain access to social networks and other applications. True to form, Apple’s (NSDQ: AAPL) been tight-lipped about any changes to the plan surrounding the launch, but some developers have told TechCrunch that the App Store could launch as early as tomorrow. Feeding speculation that the App store could launch earlier, developers had to submit their application by noon today in order to be apart of the launch. Developers are expected to get a heads up before the launch, but as of Monday afternoon, EA Mobile said it wasn’t sure when the launch is even though they’ve been working on games since the new operating system first announced in February. Last year, AT&T didn’t open stores until 6 p.m. when it launched the first-generation iPhone, so perhaps AT&T and Apple hope to get a jump start on the weekend as Apple aims to sell 10 million iPhones by year’s end. This go around AT&T is limiting purchases to just one per customer and will activate all the devices in the store.
