imageSome more iPhone-related developments one day before D-day:
—Will the iPhone get any cheaper? “If history teaches us anything about how Apple thinks, at that point Apple may knock $50 off the price. Maybe $75.” A fascinating study by three economists on all the parts that go into an iPhone, and as Hal Varian says in his NYT column, an illustration of the complexity of the global economy, and how difficult it is to understand that complexity by using only conventional trade statistics. The full PDF of the study is here.

—iPhone sales will be limited to two per person at Apple stores, maximum, Apple announced today…AT&T stores will only allow one per person.

—The iPhone accessory market looks like it will get off to a slow start when the device goes on sale tomorrow, due to the tight grip Apple kept to prevent information leaking to the market…with little information to go on, accessory makers such as Belkin and Griffin Technology, both privately held, are initially rolling out only the basics: protective cases and charging cables. Gadgets such as FM transmitters that need to work closely with the iPhone’s innards will have to wait until developers can get their hands on fully operational handsets.

—Verizon Wireless revealed that it was hosting its own party to match the Apple and AT&T events on the iPhone launch day. The carrier is inviting shoppers to test-drive “the leading wireless company with the most reliable voice and data network.” Exciting.

—Playboy.com has launchediPlayboy”, a collection of customized content that can be downloaded onto the iPhone. “Steve Jobs has delivered the hardware and now Hugh Hefner has delivered the software,” the release says. Hmm…
