Industry Moves Roundup: Orange UK; Sofinnova Ventures; Times Mobile

Orange UK Appoints New Head of Games, Gambling, Film: Neil Holroyd, former head of games and gambling at T-Mobile UK, has moved to rival operator Orange, where he takes the title of head of games, gambling, film. He is responsible for driving the department’s commercial strategy forward, as well as managing its content partnerships and acquisition activity.

Sofinnova Gets Mobile Expert: Sofinnova Ventures has hired David Hytha to join the firm’s IT team as Executive-in-Residence, charged specifically with helping the firm find investment targets in the mobile telecommunications sector. He will also work with portfolio company executives to build and grow their businesses. Hytha’s 25-year career in the mobile communications business began at AT&T (NYSE: T), where among other jobs, he founded Taiwanese GSM operator FarEasTone for the company. He has also worked at Motorola (NYSE: MOT), LGC Wireless, and Silicon Wave. He was most recently at T-Mobile in Europe where he was EVP of Terminals and part of the team that released the operator’s mobile portal Web n’ Walk (release).

UK’s Times Mobile Appoints Editor: The UK’s Times has promoted online head Brigid Callaghan to the post of editor of its mobile service. She is responsible for developing news and features for mobile devices (journalism.co.uk).
