Industry Moves: Rogers Communications To Finally Appoint CEO

Rogers Communications, the telco that owns Canada’s dominant wireless carrier, could publicly name its current chief operating officer and president Nadir Mohamed as its next chief executive officer sometime in the next two weeks, according to the Globe and Mail, citing “a source close to the situation.” Mohamed’s appointment has already been finalized internally,” but the company is still working on how to strike “a careful balance of power” between their new CEO and Edward Rogers, son of the former CEO and founder Ted Rogers, who died in December. The paper speculates that Rogers may be appointed to a position that would have oversight over strategic moves such as acquisitions, possibly being named as deputy chairman. Rogers share price has been hurt by its ongoing search for a CEO, now stretching into its third month. Before ascending to president and COO, Mohamed ran Rogers’ wireless division for four years.
