Updated below on Lasky
As I hinted last week, EA Mobile has a new head, as Mitch Lasky prepares to leave. Starting April 2, Michael Marchetti will become SVP and GM of EA Mobile. In his new role, Marchetti will oversee all production, distribution and global strategic initiatives at EA Mobile, and report directly to CEO John Riccitello. He joined EA with the acquisition of Jamdat, where he had served since 2000 as CFO. More info on this here.
Meanwhile, I haven’t heard back from my query to EA PR about Mitch Lasky leaving, My sources say he is joining a big name venture firm, possibly Benchmark or Sequoia. More when I find out.
Update: Mitch Lasky has joined Benchmark, VentureBeat has confirmed. He will move to Silicon Valley from LA to join Benchmark’s seven other partners. Lasky said he’ll spend a lot of time in LA area, though, noting the area is underserved by venture capital. He will focus on mobile content and platforms, interactive entertainment and digital privacy and identity.
