A 23-page guidebook on mobile advertising was published today by the Interactive Advertising Bureau with the goal of “demystifying” the medium. While it does a good job breaking down the industry into language that most anyone can understand, it does reveal just how complex the industry can be and how many moving parts there is to any campaign, whether its SMS, 2D barcodes, or the mobile web.

The Mobile Buyer’s guide can be found on the bureau’s web site here. The guide is the bureau’s first for mobile, perhaps demonstrating how legitimate the space has gotten. It was put together by the mobile advertising committee, which includes 120 companies that are dedicated to expanding mobile as a viable advertising platform, and clearly is targeting those who are already advertising online. Release.
