This morning we asked the question, will people line up for the T-Mobile G1, the first Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Android phone? Well, it appears the answer is yes. This evening, a line has formed in front of a T-Mobile store in San Francisco, which is opening at 6 p.m. to let people get their hands on a device 11 hours before they become officially available tomorrow morning. One of our dedicated readers, Rick Marazzani, who happens to have an office upstairs from the store, has been watching the line grow all day, and sent us pictures this evening. He reports: “My office is upstairs, so I saw the line grow throughout the day (every time I made a Starbucks run).  At 9 am there was no one, at noon there were a few people; at 4pm there were 30-40, and at 5:50 PM there were over 100.” Marazzani, who is the GM of iQ212, a mobile game developer that developed the game Redneck Fishin’, quipped that the pictures were ironically taken with his “trusty” Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 3650. He captured the inside of the store, news vans from ABC, NBC, and CBS, the crowd, and even a guy holding up a black t-shirt with a fluorescent green Android robot that was given to people waiting in line. For the most part, this is a publicity stunt, so it will be difficult to predict whether lines will form tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. when stores open. It’s less likely, given that current T-Mobile customers were able to pre-order their phones online and started receiving them as early as this week. Stay tuned for more updates.
