G1 Roundup: HTC Plans To Sell 1 Million G1s In 2008; Visual Voicemail; PocketGear; Opera Mini

imageHTC: 1 million G1s by end of year: HTC’s CEO Peter Chou has upped the ante and is now projecting T-Mobile will sell one million G1s by the end of the year, DigiTimes reports. Last month, Chou predicted HTC would sell 600,000 G1 devices by the end of the year. T-Mobile sales appear to be growing at a steady clip and have prompted the handset manufacturer to re-evaluate its forecast. HTC also said it expects to ship three million Touch Diamond devices by the end of year, which is up from the two million it previously projected.

Visual voicemail: PhoneFusion has released a beta application that brings visual voicemail to the G1 and future Android-powered phones. Interest in the application prompted the company to release the software in beta weeks before it originally planned to launch on Android Market. The application allows users to bring all of their various voicemail boxes into one place. It also displays caller ID and a name on each voicemail, whether or not the information is already saved in the users’ address book. Release.

PocketGear launches Android storefront: PocketGear has launched AndroidGear.com to sell a suite of free and commercial applications for the G1 and future devices that run on the Android operating system. The company is launching the site with a promotional sale of 25 percent off applications on all of its storefronts through the end of the month. Release.

Opera Mini: The G1 also got a new browser from Opera, which launched the Mini 4.2 beta in the Android Market today. The alternative Web browser provides links to a person’s RSS feeds, Facebook, the BBC, CNN and live scores. They can also synchronize their bookmarks, speed dial and other features between mobile and PC.
