Helio Charges For YouTube Site

Engadget is reporting that Helio is charging its users $5.99 a month for the YouTube Mobile site. “The company’s official stance is that the $5.99 monthly fee goes toward a new premium service called “Video Virus” that’ll include access to YouTube, eBaum’s World, and others, with two-click YouTube upload and a dedicated, exclusive YouTube app (packing some extra goodies not available elsewhere) all in the pipeline for later this year.” If this means that viewing YouTube (and the other sites) doesn’t count towards the customers’ minutes usage it might be a good deal for some people—if people could surf to YouTube Mobile and chew up their minutes as well there is really no problem, but if Helio is blocking that it’s a significant change in the company’s direction. I can’t find information on the Helio site.
