Google Maps Adds Transit Directions For The Phone

Here’s a twist: Google (NSDQ: GOOG) rolled out new features today for Google Maps on mobile phones before they are available on the PC. The company today wrote on its blog that its added public transportation directions for bus, trains and ferries to your phone. In the mobile version, people can browse trips during the day more easily, and determine when the last bus trip of the day is so you know how late you can stay at a party. Of course, also unique to the phone, is finding your location automatically. Google Maps version 2.2 is available today in 40 North American cities, including Chicago, the Bay Area, Seattle and Vancouver.
