Radio streaming service FlyCast has raised $2.1 million in a round of funding, according to an SEC filing. A spokesman would not say who had participated in the round or detail the company’s plans for the new cash. Earlier this year, FlyCast hired radio industry veteran David Kennedy as its CEO.

The three-year-old company, which was previously known as BroadClip, allows users to listen for free to over 1,500 web and radio channels from their smartphones or via a desktop player. FlyCast’s mobile app currently works with the iPhone, iPod, BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Storm, and BlackBerry Curve, and the company says on its site that it will become available on most new smartphones once they are released.

On Wednesday, FlyCast introduced a new version of its app for Blackberry users. It includes a premium option which caches content so that users can listen even when they are not connected to a wireless network, as long as they pay a one-time fee.
