Firefox Mobile Browser Begins Testing Next Week
Mozilla will finally have an alpha release of its mobile Firefox browser ready within a week, PC World reports. Codenamed Fennec, the mobile browser’s code will only be available for testing on Nokia’s N810 internet tablet so that Mozilla community members can put the touch user interface and features through the paces. A release for Windows Mobile is set to come out in the next few months, Jay Sullivan, Mozilla’s VP of mobile, told PC World. The company expects to make two or three more alpha releases available over the coming months before the beta version is released sometime next year. Mozilla hopes the alpha release will encourage developers to create new Firefox add-ons and make use of the browser’s geo-location interface. Still, nothing points to a public release until 2010.
