Report: Fake Phones In China Account For 20 Percent Of Sales
No one should be surprised that counterfeit phones are a big business in China—after all, a majority of handsets are manufactured there. But, according to a recent report, they now account for a full 20 percent of the market there. “No one will refuse an order if it is over 5,000 mobile phones” reports the New York Times. The article has a good breakdown of the costs of the average phone, which runs to about $40, with the handsets typically then selling for $100 to $150.
