Orange To Put Google Mobile App On Homescreen
The Google (NSDQ: GOOG) juggernaut steams on. In the US, today’s launch of Motorola’s Droid phone, the first Android phone for the country’s largest carrier Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) dominated tech news. In Europe, France Telecom’s wireless carrier Orange announced that it has partnered up with Google to give its mobile application, Google Mobile App, one-click access on the carrier’s homescreen, starting with Android handsets in its portfolio. It will also be available on Symbian S60, RIM (NSDQ: RIMM) and Windows Mobile devices at a later date. Google Mobile App provides access to the search giant’s popular applications, including search, Gmail, Maps and Calendar.

If the deal sounds so far like its all skewed to Google, apparently it’s not. The search results that Google pulls up will also include relevant content from Orange’s own mobile portal. We are currently checking if this means that preference will be given to Orange content.
