DotMobi Launches Specs Database To Ease Development Pain
DotMobi said this week at Mobile World Congress that it has started to compile a database of cellphone specifications to help software developers better design Web sites for mobile phones. The database, called DeviceAtlas, will have information on handset makers and operators, including Nokia (NYSE: NOK), Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) and Telecom Italia, according to Reuters.
DeviceAtlas is similar to databases that already exist, including one kept up by Adobe (NSDQ: ADBE), but dotMobi said it expects DeviceAtlas be more complete and affordable. It said access to the Web site version of the database is completely free, and they’ll provide one free DeviceAtlas Developer Edition license to every member of the Dev.mobi developer forum. Release.
DotMobi also gave an update on its progress. It claims to have sold more than 850,000 domain names ending in “.mobi,” although it said only about 25,000 have any content.

They are just repackaging WURFL and Nokia Forum data. The guy from WURFL works for them now and is doing this. WURFL 2.0 I guess.
