Disney’s Japanese Mobile Social Network Wonder Days

Disney has a new mobile social network in Japan, called Wonder Days, described as a cross between Habbo Hotel and Mickey Mouse. It’s a rich Flash-based service where you can modify your avatar, shop at the Disney store and so on. Wireless Watch Japan has a post on it, as well as a short video with a demo. Disney isn’t alone though—the video also talks about Mobile Game Town, which has over 2 million members. It’s revenue stream is reward based—when people buy through the stores advertised on the service they get “mobo gold”, which can be used to buy things for the social network such as backdrops, pets and so on. That represents the referral funds the network operator gets from the retailers.
