Deutsche Bids For Orange Netherlands, Offers Ya.com

Germany’s Deutsche Telekom is keen to buy Orange Netherlands from its parent company France Telecom, reports Reuters. Orange Netherlands has been valued at around 1.6 billion euros (US$2.15 billion) and is the fourth largest operator in the country—Deutsche Telekom currently owns the fourth largest operator. DT has a few competitors in the bidding (such as a private equity consortium led by Providence Equity Partners) but also has an ace-up-the-sleeve in the form of Spanish Internet provider Ya.com, which it put up for sale a few months ago and which France Telecom is interested in buying. Ya.com has been valued at around 500 million euros, and it appears a swap is being negotiated as part of a deal.
