An MVNO dubbed Democracy Wireless has been launched by left-leaning group People For The American Way and serial MVNO launcher Working Assets Wireless. The new MVNO runs through Sprint (as all those of Working Assets do) and is “marketed as an alternative to “other cellphone providers that contribute to right-wing politicians.” Democracy Wireless includes “free speech” calls of up to 30 minutes a month to the White House at no additional charge, and a portion of all monthly charges are donated to support People For the American Way Foundation’s work” reports RCR News. The business plan of Working Assets is to partner with charitable and liberal organizations to run branded MVNOs—Working Assets does the telco part and the organization does the marketing to its members.
