@ CTIA: Video Interview: RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser: Don’t Overhype The Rate of Change
At CTIA in Las Vegas, I briefly spoke to Rob Glaser, CEO of RealNetworks (NSDQ: RNWK) on his company’s mobile content efforts and working, on working with carriers, the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone hype, the opening up of the mobile networks, integration of WiderThan. One major point: he warned against over-hyping the opening up of the mobile operator networks. On Apple: “Apple is aiming for one percent of the market, so that means there’s 99 percent of the market won’t be iPhone…in five years that equation might change, but in the next five years, there is this land-grab opportunity to build services for million of users.”

On ringback tones: he is bullish and he says he has seen the numbers on them every week (through WiderThan backend). Key is packing it the right way and personalize.
