@ CTIA: Keynote: Viacom CEO Phillipe Dauman

@ CTIA: Viacom CEO Philippe DaumanLast year, BET’s Debra Lee and MTVN’s Van Toffler addressed CTIA attendees; this year, to underscore Viacom’s claims of being the leading provider of video programming for the handset, president and CEO Phillipe Dauman takes the stage. He’s just getting underway after a fairly funny video intro from Jon Stewart; I liked the part when we had the camera pan back to show how small he would be on a cellphone screen. I’ll pick up on his comments but first a look at some of the stats and announcements—a traditional keynote feature [Note: See my post-keynote interview with Dauman.]:
Today’s news:
—Advertising deals with Pepsi and Intel for the new mobile sites and mobile TV channels—the first time MTVN is selling advertising across its mobile portfolio.
—A new content partnership betwen Sprint and MTVN—making Sprint the largest carrier of MTVN content.: VOD from 10 channels plus streams of content from Nick, Comedy Central and MTV and will highlight on the deck new sites from VH1, MTV and Comedy Central.
—BET is launching the 106 & Park Mobile Fan Club today: free ringtones, a subscription to a mobile magazine and access to exclusive content.
—The first-ever SpongeBob SquarePants channel, launching exclusively on Amp’d June 1, part of a new content distribution deal with the Kids & Family group.
—Also on Amp’d, GameTrailers is launching a new mobile video channel and a new series covering mobile games.

Stats: Viacom partners with 80-plus carriers globally with a potential reach of 1.2 billion subs.
—The company produces nearly 1,000 clips and more than 100 hours of wireless video programming monthly on some 40 mobile TV channels.
—MTV alone delivers 1 million-plus streams monthly.
Update: I had to duck out just after for an interview with Dauman. I’ll post that a little later.
