CTIA In Review: 15,000 Attended; Top Themes Included Google’s Android, Spectrum Needs
At CTIA’s Wireless I.T. and Entertainment show last week, 15,000 people from the industry gathered in San Diego. While many people said the show felt smaller, it was the same size as last year, according to CTIA officials.
And, for those of you who didn’t have time to catch all the news, there were two central themes: A focus on operating systems, including the launch of Windows Mobile 6.5 and a focus on Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Android, including the launch of the Samsung Moment and new commitments by Dell and Kyocera and a extremely well-attended developer conference by Motorola (NYSE: MOT). On the carrier side, it was about skyrocketed data usage and pleads to the FCC to release additional spectrum.
